The NIHR TMN Annual Meeting is organised by the NIHR TMN Secretariat and is the most widely recognised event for Trial Managers working on NIHR Portfolio studies. It provides a platform for our members to keep up with the developments in the trial management field and provides numerous networking opportunities.

This year the NIHR TMN received a great boost of support from its members with over 100 trial managers attending the first NIHR TMN Annual Meeting in October 2011 at RIBA, London. We are pleased to report that the meeting was well received and evaluated by delegates.

Here are just a few of the highlights from the Annual Meeting if you were not able to join us this year. Dr. Peter Davidson gave an insightful talk on why Trial Managers are important for HTA research, Professor Deborah Ashby presented the findings and recommendations from the Academy of Medical Sciences review 'A new pathway for the regulation and governance of health research'.  Bec Hanley of Twocan Associates gave an important talk on the value of Actively Involving Patients and Carers in Clinical Trials.  A joint presentation by Dr. Martyn Ward and Paula Walker from MHRA on the Risk Adapted Approach to the Management of Clinical Trials and its Implications for the MHRA Inspections.

These are just a few of the keynote speaker highlights enjoyed by the audience, along with the workshops, member-led presentations, networking opportunities and sharing knowledge and experiences with fellow trial managers.
